It was time ESP8266 to get some similar competitive products on market. Realtek RTL8710 is Wireless Transceiver Module SOC with ARM Cortex M3. Cpu is clocked from 80 to 166 MHz, memory is 48K and is running FreeRTOS.
Price on this Iot soc is starting from ~ 2 to 3 usd.
